Haengjusanseong Fortress in Goyang is a historic site where General Kwon Yul defeated Japanese forces during the Imjin War (the Japanese invasion of Korea in the late 16th century). The fortress's name comes from the story of women who carried stones in their skirts (haengju) during the battle. Although only the main gate remains today, the small and picturesque Deokyang Mountain, where the fortress is located, is perfect for a stroll. From the top at Deokyangjeong, you can enjoy a refreshing view of the Han River.
